Consejos Importantes para tu Area de Recibimiento Very important tips for your Main Entry...

Hola!

Y a tus invitados?

Hello!

They say that first im[pressions never go away, the first impression on a person is the image that sticks with you forever,  well, same thing happens wih houses. The first time you walk into someone's house, you get a very good idea on how that person is, what does she/he like, etc. It's very important to decorate your main entry not only for other people, but for yourself. Getting home and being wlecomed by a pleasant space makes you feel comfortable and in peace. It helps you disconnect from all the day's stress.

These are a couple of useful tips you can practice to make your entry fun and dynamic, they're super easy:

Make your space pretty and usefull. This is the first area your guests walk in, but it's also the area where you want to leave your coat, keys, etc. Make it usefull, practical and pretty.

Create your mood all the way starting from the main entrance. What do you want to reflect? Put a flower arrangement, a nice unique accessory that captures everyone's attention. Do you want a nice smell? A plug-in or a scented candle will help you do the trick. Remember that smells and detials will last forever.

Even if it's a small space, make it work for you, a small bowl or unique platter to put coins, your keys, hooks for your coats, a box for your umbrella are some of the things you can include in the area so it looks decorated and organized.
Table lamps. Do you have space for a lamp? perhaps two? A lamp always creates a nice mood, it creates a much warmer scenario and it's much more welcoming than regular cool lighting. Don't have space for a table lamp? A sconce can work perfectly fine.

I hope you find these tips usefull and put them to practice, these will not only work for your entry, but they can worlk for your entire house. I hope you enjoy your Tuesday, see you tomorrow!

Hazlo tu mismo! Proyecto de la semana / DIY! Project of the week..

Hola!

Vamos a ocupar:

*Tijeras
*Tachuelas o jaladeras para colgar tus accesorios

Hello!

This project is dedicated to all the women that have tons of accessories (earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc) and don't have a specific place to put them away. I have plenty of space in my bedroom, but don't want to buy a big jewelry box, and the small ones won't work for me. I was thinking of an easy, fun and inexpensive way to make room for all my little treasures and found this fantastic way that can be arranged how ever I want and with any fabrics I want. Today were making:

Custom Jewelry Frames

This is what you'll need:

Photo frames in any style, any finish and how many you want (just remember that you probably will have long necklces, try to buy longer frames for those items. You want all your accesories to be inside the frame)
Any style of fabric you want.
Hot glue gun
Scissors

As you can see, it's a very easy project, you just need to apply the fabric to the base of the frame with the hot glue gun and you can use tiny nails to hang your accessories. If you want to give it a special look, you can glue a ribbon to the top so you can hang it from there.

I hope you like it and make time to make it, see you soon!

Adquiere el Look! / Get the look!

Hello Everyone!

I was out  for a couple of days but I'm back :) I want to share with you a particular style that I like  a lot, I would say that it's one of my favorite styles. I love how it creates a sense of harmony and tranquility into the space. I like it so much that I'm about to buy the dining table I show you on the pictures below. I love it! I'm going to match it up with custom chairs and a bench. I wouldn't say that my house is the most organic houses of all, but I try to create harmony on all the elements I have, and try very hard to incorporate tons of color with my art pieces. There are many of resources where you can buy organic accessories. If you happen to be in Guadalajara, take advantage of all the fabulous things they sell over there!

I hope you like the style as much as I do, it's perfect for the summer...

Hazlo tu misma/o! Proyecto del día / Do it yourself! Project of the day....

Hey Everyone!

I very good friend of mine asked me to show different ways to make a custom headboard, without spending too much time and money. I found these 5 amazing ways to customize your headboard, not only will this project keep you busy (at least for a day, trust me), you will also have a super custom headboard that will be a product of your imagination! There are tons of ways to customize your headboard, these are some of the ones I found so you can start getting inspired:

...Fotos de Familia...
...Family Portraits...

As you can see, this is the easiest project of all, you only need same size photo frames, you can put 2, 4 or even 6 lanes, depends on how tall you want it. You measure the same space between each frame so all of them have the same space in between and they don't get out of your bed frame. This picture shows black and white frames, but you can use color frames or pictures, it all depends on what color pallet you have.

...Letras Mágicas...
...Magic Letters...

This is a super fun and original design, dont know where to buy the letters? you can find them at stores like www.michaels.com www.potterybarn.com or even garage sales. You can obviously use any letters and colors you want. When you start arranging your letters, use the same method as the one that you use to mount the plates (read last week's DIY blog). This design while make a great impression!

...Rincón Femenino...
...Femenine Retreat...

I love this design! super femenine and romantic! Even though it looks hard, it's actually pretty easy. You need a bench cushion, if you don't find a long one, you can buy two small ones, but try to find the long one, www.pier1.com has a great variety of cushions. You can buy the molding at your local home improvement store like www.homedepot.com. Measure your mattress length so your molding has a similar length. You can leave it with its original stain, or you can buy a wood stain so you can give it your personal touch. This will not 6nly look beautiful, it's also functional, since the molding works as a shelf as well!

...Más es Menos...
...Less is More...

Super fun and easy! Go to your local home improvement store, ask for a plywood sheet, you'll have to sand it and stain with a matte wood stain finish. This will look super clean and modern!

...Sueño Romántico...
....Romantic Dreams...

Dont you just love it??? You'll start by picking up a screen panel, preferbly a one that has holes in between the panel so you can see the back wall. After that, you're going to paint the back wall in a solid color. Measure your screen panel and based on its dimensions, add about 6 to 12 inches on each side of paint so you can see the color out of the screen panel. On top of the paint, you can add a hand painted frame. When you're done with these steps, mount your screen panel and that's it! With this design you'll sleep like a diva!

I hope you liked all the styles and  put them into to practice, see you tomorrow!

Good Day!

Even though our weather is a little crazy right now,  summer season is coming up and right now is a perfect timing to start decorating your patio. We can make simple improvements, like buying plants and flowers all the way to buy a complete set of patio furniture. The important thing is that you actually see a change in it and want to spend your summer days in your perfect little patio!
I found this amazing piece at a local shop here in San Diego. It has the even amount of elegance and sophistication you need to feel as if you where in a 5 star hotel! Can you imagine yourself sitting there and  having a fresh lemonade??

Take care, see you tomorrow!

Gastar vs. Ahorrar / Splurge vs. Save....

Hola!

Hello!

We're enjoying a beautiful rainy day in San Diego, hope you're enjoying your day as well :)

I'm currently looking for a queen bed that has an upholstered headboard. I want to create a sophisticated and elegant look for my client and I know that this piece will make a great statement. I have 2 beds that are very familiar, obviously the price is the main difference, but I know that Jeff Vioski's bed is made of a higher quility, but the ZGallerie bed is not bad at all. What do you think?

Have a great day, see you tomorrow!

Crea tu libro de Materiales y Conceptos / Create your Materials and Concept Board

www.thewonderlustjournal.com

Hola!!

Hello!!

Hope you're having a great week and that you enjoyed your weekend :)

After calculating our budget and see how much you can spend, it's important to start conceptualizing and gathering your thoughts and ideas. Maybe you saw tons of things you loved but can't seem work harmoniously once you put them together. That's usually when designers start to gather all the concepts and ideas, this is called a materials board. This will make your project easier and will give you a broader perspective of things. Making a materials board can be very simple and the best part is that you can add or remove all  items as many times as you want, without having buyers remorse after buying something.

RESEARCH  YOUR ITEMS BEFORE YOU BUY THEM

It's important to know all your options before you actually buy an item. It's very frustrating when you buy something and then you see at another website or store for sale, grrrr!!! That's why you need to do some research before you buy. The internet, stores and garage sales are great buying and info sources. It's much easier if you look for an item with the name or item number on the internet or at the stores.

CREATE A MATERIALS BOARD

Imagine that you have everything that you want for your room, either on magazine tear-outs or internet images, your color swatches and your fabric cutouts. Once you have all your concepts ready, put them on cardboard and start playing with them. Take out things that you think won't go well and put new ones, repeat this process until you're happy with all the items. This will make the process fun and easy and you'll be 100% sure of all the things you bought.

MAKE A DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION SCHEDULE

Even if your not the most organized person, it's important to have a schedule of everything you ordered online, bought at a store, etc. Often times internet items are delayed and it can be a real headache if you don't know the exact delivery dates. This can turn your project into a nightmare and you don't want that. Try to set yourself a timeline for everything.

This is a huge tip that will save you tons of stress and headaches. I hope you put it in practice and take advantage of it, see you tomorrow!!
