Después de calcular tu presupuesto y ver cuánto te puedes gastar en el proyecto, es importante que empiezes a aterrizar la idea y el estilo que quieras para tu espacio. Puedes ver muchas cosas que te encanten, pero tal vez no vayan bien cuando las trates de combinar. Es por eso que cuando nosotros los diseñadores empezamos a aterrizar todos los conceptos y tenemos bien definido el estilo, hacemos un libro de diseño, o libro de materiales. Esto te facilitará muchísimo para ver todo desde una perspectiva mucho más amplia. Hacer un libro de materiales es muy sencillo, y lo mejor de todo es que puedes quitar y agregar las veces que quieras, sin tener remordimiento de consciencia despues de haber comprado algo.
EMPIEZA CON TU BUSQUEDA E INVESTIGACION DE ARTICULOS
Es importante que antes de que compres cualquier artículo, veas todas las opciones disponibles en el mercado. Da mucho coraje cuando compras algo y ves el mismo artículo en una página de internet o en otra tienda a mitad de precio grrrr!!! por eso es importante que busques todas las opciones en el mercado antes de hacer tus compras. El internet, tiendas establecidas, y oportunidades en ventas de garage son una excelente fuente para ver otras opciones. Para el caso de las tiendas y el internet, la manera más fácil de buscar es por el nombre o el número del artículo.
CREA UN DIAGRAMA DE MATERIALES Y CONCEPTOS
Imagina que ya tienes todos los artículos que quieres, ya sea en recortes de revistas, o imágenes de internet, pedacitos de pintura y tela, etc. Ya que tengas todos tus artículos listos, pega todos los conceptos en una hoja o en una cartulina. Es mucho más facil ver todo al mismo tiempo, así verás si efectivamente todo lo que escogiste va en armonía y si no te gusta algo, puedes quitarlo inmediatamente sin haber hecho el gasto.
AGENDA TUS TIEMPOS DE ENTREGA E INSTALACIONES
Aunque no seas la pesona más organizada del mundo, es importante que agendes todas las fechas de entrega e instalaciones. Muchas veces las compañías de internet te dan una fecha de entrega y no cumplen, es importante que tengas por escrito todo por que el proceso de entrega puede salirse fuera de control y tardar muchísimo, esto te dará a muchos dolores de cabeza y trabajos inconclusos. Aparte te sirve para que todo lo que tengas más bonito, más rapido :)

After calculating our budget and see how much you can spend, it's important to start conceptualizing and gathering your thoughts and ideas. Maybe you saw tons of things you loved but can't seem work harmoniously once you put them together. That's usually when designers start to gather all the concepts and ideas, this is called a materials board. This will make your project easier and will give you a broader perspective of things. Making a materials board can be very simple and the best part is that you can add or remove all items as many times as you want, without having buyers remorse after buying something.
RESEARCH YOUR ITEMS BEFORE YOU BUY THEM
It's important to know all your options before you actually buy an item. It's very frustrating when you buy something and then you see at another website or store for sale, grrrr!!! That's why you need to do some research before you buy. The internet, stores and garage sales are great buying and info sources. It's much easier if you look for an item with the name or item number on the internet or at the stores.
CREATE A MATERIALS BOARD
Imagine that you have everything that you want for your room, either on magazine tear-outs or internet images, your color swatches and your fabric cutouts. Once you have all your concepts ready, put them on cardboard and start playing with them. Take out things that you think won't go well and put new ones, repeat this process until you're happy with all the items. This will make the process fun and easy and you'll be 100% sure of all the things you bought.
MAKE A DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION SCHEDULE
Even if your not the most organized person, it's important to have a schedule of everything you ordered online, bought at a store, etc. Often times internet items are delayed and it can be a real headache if you don't know the exact delivery dates. This can turn your project into a nightmare and you don't want that. Try to set yourself a timeline for everything.
